Trump Stuns Nation by Announcing Secret Service Protection Revoked for Obama, Biden, and Harris

Washington, D.C. — In a move that has sent shockwaves through the political establishment, former President Donald Trump announced late Thursday that Secret Service protection for former President Barack Obama, President Joe Biden, and Vice President Kamala Harris will be revoked effective immediately. The announcement, made during a press briefing at Mar-a-Lago, was met with widespread condemnation from Democrats, national security experts, and even some Republican lawmakers.

“This country cannot afford to keep wasting taxpayer dollars protecting people who have failed America,” Trump declared, calling the decision a matter of “fairness and accountability.” He went on to say that Obama, Biden, and Harris “no longer deserve the privileges of office,” framing the revocation as a cost-saving measure.

An Unprecedented Move

The decision marks the first time in U.S. history that a former president and current top officeholders have been stripped of their Secret Service detail. Traditionally, all former presidents are granted lifetime protection, while sitting presidents and vice presidents receive round-the-clock security as a matter of national security.

“This is unprecedented and dangerous,” said Mark Zaid, a national security attorney. “Removing protection not only puts these leaders at personal risk, it also destabilizes trust in America’s democratic institutions. It sends a chilling signal to political opponents.”

Backlash Erupts

Democratic lawmakers quickly condemned the announcement. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries called it “a reckless abuse of power driven by personal vendetta.” Former First Lady Michelle Obama issued a rare statement, saying, “This decision isn’t about security costs — it’s about endangering lives for political gain.”

Meanwhile, President Biden’s spokesperson confirmed the administration is reviewing legal options to reverse the order. “The President remains focused on his duties, but make no mistake — this will be challenged in court,” the statement read.

Republican Reactions Split

While some Trump allies praised the move as “a bold step toward cutting unnecessary expenses,” others expressed unease. Senator Mitt Romney (R-Utah) warned, “This crosses a line. Security for our leaders is not optional and should never be weaponized.”

Public Safety Concerns

Experts worry the revocation could have severe consequences. With threats against political leaders at historic highs, security analysts warn that the decision leaves Obama, Biden, and Harris vulnerable.

“Removing protection doesn’t just endanger them, it risks national stability,” said former Secret Service agent Clint Hill. “These individuals remain high-value targets, and without official protection, the dangers multiply exponentially.”

What Happens Next

Legal challenges are already expected, with several lawsuits likely to be filed within days. Constitutional scholars are also questioning whether Trump even has the authority to revoke Secret Service protection for sitting officials, suggesting the courts may intervene quickly.

For now, the announcement has cast a shadow of uncertainty over Washington. With political tensions already at a boiling point, critics fear this latest move could deepen divides and further destabilize the nation’s fragile political landscape.
