Selena Gomez, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Zac Efron Commend Taylor Swift as They Each Donate $1 Million Alongside Her $5 Million Red Cross Contribution to Support Hurricane Melissa Victims in Jamaica

Kingston, Jamaica — October 27, 2025

In a powerful act of solidarity and compassion, pop superstar Taylor Swift has donated $5 million to the Red Cross to provide emergency relief for victims of Hurricane Melissa, which recently devastated communities across Jamaica. Her donation aims to fund vital resources including non-perishable food, clean drinking water, and hygiene supplies for thousands of displaced families.

The singer’s generosity sparked a wave of support from fellow celebrities, with Selena Gomez, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Zac Efron each contributing $1 million to the same relief initiative — bringing the total to $8 million in aid. Their joint effort marks one of the largest celebrity-backed humanitarian drives following a Caribbean disaster in recent years.

A Unified Call for Hope

Taylor Swift, known for her ongoing philanthropic work, released a brief statement through her publicist expressing heartbreak over the storm’s impact.

“The people of Jamaica have shown the world their strength time and again,” Swift said. “This is about standing with them in a moment of loss, and making sure families get the food, water, and shelter they urgently need.”

Selena Gomez echoed those sentiments in an Instagram post thanking the Red Cross and local volunteers for their tireless efforts.

“Taylor reminded us that kindness can move mountains,” Gomez wrote. “I’m proud to stand beside her and everyone helping rebuild lives in Jamaica.”

Hollywood’s Humanitarian Front

Leonardo DiCaprio, who has long championed environmental and disaster recovery causes through his Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, emphasized the importance of long-term aid beyond immediate relief.

“Hurricane Melissa is a painful reminder of how climate change is intensifying storms across vulnerable regions,” DiCaprio said in a statement. “Swift’s leadership and everyone contributing to this effort are helping ensure Jamaica doesn’t face this crisis alone.”

Actor Zac Efron, who has been involved in global aid and environmental projects, also confirmed his $1 million contribution, writing on X (formerly Twitter):

“Proud to join Taylor, Selena, and Leo in helping families get back on their feet. Every act of compassion counts.”

A Collective $8 Million Mission

According to the Red Cross, the combined $8 million donation will fund the distribution of emergency aid kits, support for local shelters, and the rebuilding of damaged health centers and schools in several parishes hit hardest by Hurricane Melissa, including St. Mary, Portland, and St. Thomas.

A Red Cross spokesperson praised the celebrities’ collaboration, calling it a “life-changing gesture” that will have both immediate and lasting impacts on recovery efforts.

“This is not just about financial support — it’s about visibility,” the spokesperson said. “When figures like Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Zac Efron stand together for humanity, it reminds the world that help can come from unity and compassion.”

Rebuilding Jamaica, One Act at a Time

Hurricane Melissa, a Category 4 storm, made landfall on Jamaica’s northeast coast earlier this month, leaving widespread flooding, power outages, and displacements in its wake. Local authorities estimate that over 200,000 residents have been affected, with thousands requiring long-term housing and medical assistance.

With this powerful show of celebrity support, humanitarian leaders hope the momentum will inspire more global action and awareness for the island nation’s ongoing recovery.

As Taylor Swift concluded in her message: “The world feels smaller when we care for each other. Jamaica needs us now — and we’ll be there.”
