Taylor Swift Blasts Trump’s Lavish Ballroom Project as SNAP Benefits Cut Off: “Are You F—ing Kidding Me?”

Pop superstar Taylor Swift has unleashed a fiery criticism of Donald Trump, condemning what she calls his “cruel and senseless” decision to cut off SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits while continuing to pour money into his controversial White House ballroom project.

In a series of posts shared to social media late Wednesday night, Swift expressed outrage over the administration’s priorities, contrasting the loss of vital food assistance for millions of struggling families with Trump’s extravagant remodeling of the East Wing into a private ballroom.

“You’re building a ballroom while people can’t afford to eat. Are you f—ing kidding me?” Swift wrote, calling the move “a national disgrace.”

The Grammy-winning artist, known for her outspoken activism on social and political issues, accused Trump of using public funds for personal luxury while ignoring the basic needs of ordinary Americans.

“This isn’t leadership — it’s vanity at the expense of humanity,” Swift added. “Families are being forced to skip meals, while this man is hosting galas under golden chandeliers.”

The backlash comes amid reports that thousands of low-income households have already lost access to SNAP benefits due to recent budget cuts. Meanwhile, images of Trump’s ballroom construction—complete with marble floors, crystal chandeliers, and private entertainment quarters—have fueled anger nationwide.

Several lawmakers and advocacy groups echoed Swift’s outrage, saying the decision reflects “grossly misplaced priorities.” The nonprofit group Feeding America released a statement thanking Swift for “using her voice for the voiceless” and urging Congress to intervene.

Swift’s comments quickly went viral, sparking the trending hashtag #BallroomOrBread, as fans and activists shared stories of families struggling to put food on the table.

Though the White House has not directly responded to Swift’s remarks, a Trump spokesperson defended the project as “a restoration effort funded through lawful means” — a claim critics have disputed.

As Swift concluded in one of her final posts:

“America should never have to choose between feeding its people and feeding one man’s ego.”
