San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy seems more committed to San Jose State University than his brother.

49ers' Brock Purdy returns to Bay Area campus to film another commercial

The 24-year-old returned to the Bay Area school’s football stadium to shoot a commercial for the sports drink Recover 180. Purdy officially partnered with the brand earlier this month. A video the company posted on Thursday shows Purdy letting a fan take a selfie with him before getting onto the field and doing promo for the product — including throwing a generic football, a staple of a commercial starring a quarterback.

This is not the first time that Purdy has used the Spartans’ stadium as a backdrop for an advertisement. His commercial for Alaska Airlines was also shot on the San Jose-located football field and ran throughout this past Niners season.

At least this Purdy has stuck with San Jose State as his home in some capacity. His brother, Preston “Chubba” Purdy, was set to join the Spartans as recently as early January after two seasons in Nebraska. However, the younger Purdy flipped his decision to Nevada once head coach Brent Brennan left the Bay Area to coach at Arizona.

Of course, what ultimately helps the older Purdy’s commitment is the fact that most of the money he’s making as of this moment is likely coming from advertisements. The soon-to-be-third-year quarterback is playing through the contract he signed after he was selected with the last pick in the 2022 NFL draft, a bargain that many experts consider to be the best in the NFL. Since the deal lasts at least another season, there’s a good chance he might be back on the Spartans’ home turf.
