The repost, which echoed his earlier September 2024 statement, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,” has reignited a one-sided feud that began during the 2024 presidential election campaign. Trump’s latest jab has sparked widespread discussion, with fans, critics, and even some of his supporters questioning the timing and intent behind his remarks.
The Backstory: A Feud Rooted in Politics
The tension between Trump and Swift dates back to 2018, when Swift broke her political silence by endorsing Democratic candidates Phil Bredesen and Jim Cooper in the Tennessee midterm elections. Trump, then president, responded by saying he liked her music “25% less.” The feud escalated significantly in 2024 when Trump reposted AI-generated images falsely suggesting Swift endorsed his presidential campaign. Swift, who had not made an endorsement at the time, responded by publicly backing Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in September 2024, labeling herself a “childless cat lady” in a pointed jab at comments made by Trump’s running mate, JD Vance.
Trump’s reaction was swift and vitriolic. On September 15, 2024, he posted, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” on Truth Social, a statement that shocked many given Swift’s global popularity and cultural influence. The following day, he doubled down on Fox & Friends, stating, “I was not a Taylor Swift fan… She’s a very liberal person.
