Donald Trump Says He’s Relieved Taylor Swift Didn’t Mention Him on Her New Album, But Claims He Could Have “Saved It from Being a Flop”
President Donald Trump is weighing in once again on Taylor Swift, this time taking aim at her much-anticipated album The Life of a Showgirl. While the record has dominated headlines for its bold themes and Swift’s outspoken persona, Trump made it clear he was paying close attention — and was oddly relieved.

Speaking at a private gathering with supporters, Trump joked that despite Swift’s frequent criticism of him in public, her new songs spared him any lyrical jabs. “She says terrible things about me all the time, but at least she didn’t put me in the music,” he said, according to attendees. “And you know what? That’s a good thing. It’s probably the only smart thing she’s done with that album.”
But the former president didn’t stop there. True to his style, Trump claimed that if Swift had mentioned him — whether positively or negatively — the project might have been a bigger commercial success. “Look, if she wrote about me, it wouldn’t flop. I would have saved it,” Trump quipped. “People love when she talks about me. It would have sold like crazy, no question.”
Swift has been one of Trump’s most vocal celebrity critics in recent years, using her platform to call out his policies, rhetoric, and leadership style. Still, her decision to leave him out of The Life of a Showgirl has sparked speculation among fans, some of whom believe it was a deliberate move to focus on new creative directions rather than political feuds.
Music analysts note that Swift’s albums often thrive on personal storytelling, breakups, and cultural commentary, but her clashes with Trump have largely played out in interviews and social media posts — not in her lyrics.
Trump’s comments, however, are likely to stir fresh debate. Supporters applauded his ability to turn even an absence into a victory claim, while Swift’s fans dismissed his remarks as yet another attempt to attach himself to her spotlight.
One entertainment columnist summed it up bluntly: “Trump is treating Taylor Swift’s album like a campaign rally talking point. To him, not being mentioned is a win, but somehow he still insists she needed him to make it big.”
As for Swift, she has yet to respond publicly to Trump’s latest remarks. But given her history of fiery comebacks, fans are already wondering if his comments could end up inspiring a future verse after all.
