Pop icon Taylor Swift has sharply condemned former President Donald Trump’s recent claim of achieving “peace in the Middle East” through the Gaza ceasefire deal, saying that any peace “built on the bones of the Palestinians” should never be celebrated—let alone considered for the Nobel Peace Prize.

In a statement posted on social media, Swift accused Trump of “glorifying destruction and human suffering” while trying to rebrand a humanitarian catastrophe as an act of statesmanship. “Peace through genocide is no peace at all,” she wrote. “You can’t bomb a people into submission and then stand on their graves declaring a historic dawn.”

Trump had earlier declared that his administration’s diplomatic efforts had brought “a new era of stability and peace to the Middle East,” following the ceasefire agreement signed between Israel and Hamas.
