Taylor Swift Donates $15 Million to WHO to Support Hurricane Melissa Victims in Jamaica with Food, Water, and Hygiene Supplies
Kingston, Jamaica — October 28, 2025
Global pop icon Taylor Swift has donated $15 million to the World Health Organization (WHO) to support emergency relief efforts for victims of Hurricane Melissa, which ravaged parts of Jamaica earlier this month, leaving widespread destruction and displacing thousands of families.

According to a statement released by WHO, Swift’s donation will be used to provide non-perishable food, clean drinking water, hygiene kits, and medical supplies to affected communities across Jamaica’s hardest-hit parishes. The organization described the singer’s contribution as “one of the largest single donations from an individual artist toward Hurricane Melissa recovery efforts.”
“Taylor Swift’s generosity will directly translate into life-saving relief,” said Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of WHO. “Her compassion and commitment to humanitarian causes continue to inspire millions around the world.”
Hurricane Melissa, a Category 5 storm, tore through the Caribbean earlier this month with winds exceeding 160 mph, destroying homes, crippling infrastructure, and cutting off access to essential services. Jamaica’s government has declared a national emergency as aid organizations rush to provide shelter and medical care to those in need.
Swift, who has a long history of philanthropy and global advocacy, said in a statement that her donation was “a call to action” for others to support those suffering the impacts of the disaster.
“No one should be left without food, clean water, or medical help after a tragedy like this,” Swift said. “I’m honored to partner with WHO to make sure help reaches those who need it most in Jamaica.”
In addition to her donation, Swift has encouraged her fans to contribute to verified relief funds and humanitarian organizations assisting victims of the storm. The WHO confirmed that Swift’s contribution will also fund temporary medical centers and mobile health units to serve remote areas cut off by flooding.
The Jamaican government and several humanitarian groups have publicly thanked the singer for her timely intervention. Prime Minister Andrew Holness expressed gratitude, calling her contribution “a powerful act of solidarity with the people of Jamaica during one of our darkest times.”
Taylor Swift’s donation adds to her growing legacy of humanitarian efforts, which have included disaster relief, hunger prevention, and global health initiatives. Her $15 million gift is expected to impact tens of thousands of lives as recovery efforts continue across the island.
