Travis Kelce Opens Up About His Star-Studded Wedding to Taylor Swift at Madison Square Garden During Chiefs Training Camp Press Conference, Jokes About Missing Knicks Playoff Game, Says ‘My Wife Made It’
Travis Kelce Reflects on Madison Square Garden Wedding to Taylor Swift and Missing Knicks Playoff Game
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce opened up Wednesday about his July wedding to Taylor Swift and a missed opportunity to catch a New York Knicks playoff game, offering a lighthearted glimpse into life as a newlywed during a training camp press conference.
Speaking to reporters, Kelce referenced the couple’s star-studded ceremony at Madison Square Garden earlier this summer. He described the iconic arena as the kind of grand venue that felt right for their big day, which took place on July 3, 2026, and drew a high-profile guest list from the worlds of music, sports, and entertainment.
Kelce then turned to a more recent memory involving the same New York landmark. He said he had hoped to attend a Knicks playoff game at Madison Square Garden during the NBA postseason but was unable to make the trip because of football obligations with the Chiefs. His wife, however, did make it.
“I wanted to get to a Knicks game during the playoffs but couldn’t make it due to football,” Kelce said, according to video shared by local sports reporter McKenzie Nelson. “Adds HIS WIFE did.”
The comments come roughly five weeks after the couple exchanged vows in a transformed Madison Square Garden that featured a garden-themed setup inside the arena. Adam Sandler officiated the ceremony, with the couple’s brothers standing by their sides. Details of the private event have continued to emerge in the weeks since, including performances and an extensive guest list that spanned Hollywood, the NFL, and the music industry.
Kelce’s remarks highlight the ongoing balance the 36-year-old tight end is navigating between his NFL career and high-profile personal life. The Chiefs are currently in the midst of training camp as they prepare for the upcoming season.
Swift, a longtime supporter of the Knicks, has been spotted courtside at several games in recent months, including during the team’s playoff run. Kelce’s nod to her attendance underscored the couple’s shared connection to New York sports while he remained focused on football duties in Kansas City.
The video of Kelce’s comments quickly circulated among fans of both the Chiefs and Swift, capturing the tight end’s typically relaxed and humorous demeanor as he settled into married life.
