The Backstory: A Feud Rooted in Politics
The tension between Trump and Swift dates back to 2018, when Swift broke her political silence by endorsing Democratic candidates Phil Bredesen and Jim Cooper in the Tennessee midterm elections. Trump, then president, responded by saying he liked her music “25% less.” The feud escalated significantly in 2024 when Trump reposted AI-generated images falsely suggesting Swift endorsed his presidential campaign.
