Chiefs Defensive Coach Makes Bold Claim About Taylor Swift’s Impact on Travis Kelce
Dave Merritt is giving his two cents on how the “Taylor Effect” has changed the NFL star.
Something about dating Taylor Swift just “Hits Different.” Even Travis Kelce’s coaching staff has noticed the effect Swift has had on the star tight end since he became wrapped up in a romance with the “Anti-Hero” singer early last fall.
And despite the naysayers who have called Swift a “distraction” to the NFL since she began coming to Kelce’s games and attracting tons of media attention by doing so, the coaches of the Kansas City Chiefs clearly think the music superstar has been a positive addition to Kelce’s life—and maybe even to his gameplay.
In addition to head coach’s Andy Reid’s support for Kelce dating Swift, Chiefs defensive coach Dave Merritt recently spoke out to address how the football star has changed since the whirlwind romance began—and according to Merritt, it’s all been for the better.
“I felt like she actually added to what it was that we were trying to do,” Merritt said during a recent episode of The Sports Shop Podcast With Reese & K-Mac, noting that Swift, 34, has turned the athlete into “a different man.”
Merritt went on to explain, “Because there were so many people that were hating the fact that she was being shown on the TV,” the entire Chiefs community embraced her as “part of our family because you’re with Travis.” “So, therefore, you’re our little sister…. You’re part of our family,” Merritt added.
