Jason Kelce to hold news conference Monday afternoon as retirement decision looms
Jason Kelce will hold a news conference at 1 p.m. ET on Monday to divulge his retirement decision.
While Kelce reportedly informed his teammates that he intends to retire after the Philadelphia Eagles lost in the playoffs, the 36-year-old center has not made any official announcements.
Nearly one month after the Eagles’ blowout wild-card loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Kelce told Shaquille O’Neal on a Feb. 12 episode of O’Neal’s podcast that Kelce’s “still figuring it out.”
“I think if I still want to play, I’m going to play,” he said. “I think right now we’re not far enough away from the last game. It’s emotional. It’s a long season. We ended the season, quite frankly, awful. … So I’m just going to take some time. Rest, recoup and then figure it out. I think I’ll have an answer in the next couple weeks.”
Three weeks, to be exact. “No Keg videos this year, I have come to a decision and will address it at a press conference this afternoon,” Kelce said on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Monday.
