When the Philadelphia Eagles saw their season come to an end in the wild-card round, Jason Kelce’s emotional reaction on the sidelines and in the tunnel pointed to a likely end of his legendary playing career. On Monday, that became official.
The longtime Eagles center announced his retirement in a press conference where he looked back at his 13-year NFL career. Kelce arrived to the podium ready to read a prepared statement, but he immediately broke down in tears — realizing in real time how difficult the announcement was going to be.
This was the scene at the Eagles’ facility in Philadelphia. As tears streamed down his face, Kelce continued on with his statement. He ends his career as a surefire future Hall of Famer with a Super Bowl ring and seven Pro Bowl appearances.
