Donald Trump Claims Taylor Swift Is ‘No Longer Hot’ in Latest Attack, But Her $1.6 Billion Empire Tells a Different Story

On the morning of May 16, 2025, former President Donald Trump took to his Truth Social platform to reignite his long-simmering feud with global pop superstar Taylor Swift. In a post that quickly made headlines, Trump wrote, “Has anyone noticed that, since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,’ she’s no longer ‘HOT?’” The comment, reported by Variety, marks the latest chapter in a contentious relationship that has spanned years, rooted in political differences and personal grievances. However, Swift’s record-breaking achievements, including her $1.6 billion net worth and the $2 billion-grossing Eras Tour, paint a starkly different picture of her enduring cultural dominance.

A Feud Fueled by Politics

Trump’s animosity toward Swift can be traced back to her increasing political activism, which began gaining prominence in 2018 when she publicly criticized then-President Trump’s leadership. Swift, who had previously remained apolitical, broke her silence to endorse Democratic candidates in the 2018 midterms and later became a vocal critic of Trump’s policies, particularly on issues like voting rights and the COVID-19 response. In 2020, Swift’s tweet criticizing Trump for “stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism” became the most-liked tweet by a woman that year, garnering over two million likes, according to TIME.

The tension reached a boiling point during the 2024 U.S. presidential election. Following a debate on September 10, 2024, between Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, Swift took to Instagram to announce her endorsement of Harris. “I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them,” Swift wrote, praising Harris as a “steady-handed, gifted leader” who could lead with “calm and not chaos.” The endorsement, which came just half an hour after the debate concluded, sparked a firestorm of reactions—none more intense than Trump’s.

Days later, on September 15, 2024, Trump vented his frustration on Truth Social, posting in all caps, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” The outburst followed reports of Swift’s endorsement driving significant voter engagement, with over 35,000 people registering to vote after she promoted Vote.org’s National Voter Registration Day in September 2023—a 23% increase in total
