Kanye West Slams Jeff Bezos After Twitch Ban Just 10 Minutes Into Debut Stream

In a whirlwind of controversy, Kanye West, now known as Ye, found himself banned from Twitch just ten minutes into his first-ever livestream on the platform on April 25, 2025. The swift suspension, triggered by a series of offensive remarks and actions, has sparked a heated reaction from the rapper, who directed his frustration at Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, the owner of Twitch. West’s brief foray into the gaming-centric streaming service ended abruptly after he performed a Nazi salute, used antisemitic and homophobic slurs, and made disparaging comments about his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, prompting a fierce backlash and reigniting debates about his online conduct.

The incident unfolded when West, under the Twitch handle “yeezy_stream,” took to the platform wearing a black jacket and Prada sunglasses. Within moments, the 47-year-old rapper launched into a tirade that included hateful language targeting Jewish people and the LGBTQ+ community. Clips circulating online captured West proclaiming “Heil Hitler” while performing a Nazi salute and instructing supporters to “wear Swastika.” He also bragged about receiving “free passes” from X owner Elon Musk to post discriminatory content online, likening the freedom to an unlimited shopping spree at Louis Vuitton. Additionally, West took shots at Kardashian, claiming he “should’ve had babies” with Paris Hilton instead, stating, “Could you imagine if I had kids with Paris Hilton? How many hotels I would have right now?”

Twitch, known for its strict Community Guidelines, promptly shut down West’s channel, replacing it with a message: “This channel is temporarily unavailable due to a violation of Twitch’s Community Guidelines or Terms of Service.” The ban, which some users on X humorously dubbed a “world record” for speed, came as little surprise given West’s recent history of inflammatory behavior. In recent months, he has appeared in a KKK hood during an interview, mocked the children of Jay-Z and Beyoncé, and openly professed admiration for Adolf Hitler, drawing widespread condemnation.

Following the ban, West wasted no time in targeting Jeff Bezos, who acquired Twitch for $970 million in 2014. In a fiery outburst shared via posts on X, West accused Bezos of stifling his free speech and labeled the ban an overreach by “Big Tech.” He claimed the suspension was a personal vendetta, tying it to Bezos’ influence over Amazon and Twitch’s moderation policies. “Bezos thinks he can silence me, but I’m not going anywhere,” West reportedly stated, though he provided no evidence linking Bezos directly to the decision. The rapper’s remarks echoed previous tensions between high-profile figures and Bezos, including past criticisms from former President Donald Trump over Twitch’s content policies.

The Twitch community and fans reacted swiftly online. One X user quipped, “He was live for 420 seconds and probably caused 900 terms of service violations,” while another remarked, “Well, who could’ve predicted that.” Others speculated that West’s intention was to provoke a ban to generate headlines, with one Reddit user noting, “The point of him joining was to get banned so that these articles would get made so you would talk about it.” Despite the brief stream, West amassed nearly 3,000 followers and averaged over 1,500 viewers, underscoring his enduring ability to draw attention, even in controversy.

This isn’t West’s first encounter with Twitch-related trouble. Earlier in April 2025, rapper Digital Nas faced a temporary ban after featuring West on a stream where they previewed a controversial track from West’s upcoming album, WW3. The incident highlighted Twitch’s proactive stance on content moderation, particularly for high-profile figures with a history of violating guidelines. West’s ban also follows calls from actor David Schwimmer in February 2025, who urged Elon Musk to remove West from X for antisemitic posts, including statements like “I’m a Nazi” and “Jewish people actually hate white people and use black people.”

West’s attack on Bezos has added fuel to the ongoing discourse about content moderation on major platforms. Twitch’s guidelines explicitly prohibit “hateful conduct” that promotes discrimination or violence based on race, religion, or sexual orientation, and West’s actions clearly crossed that line. While Twitch has not issued a public statement on the ban’s duration, the severity of the violations—particularly the Nazi salute and explicit slurs—suggests a permanent suspension is likely.
