Wendy Williams’ Fiery Call to The View: “I Do Not Have Incapacitation—Get Off My Neck!”

On March 14, 2025, Wendy Williams made a dramatic return to the spotlight, calling into ABC’s The View in what marked her most high-profile television appearance since The Wendy Williams Show ended in June 2022. The 60-year-old media icon didn’t hold back, unleashing a passionate rebuttal to claims of her alleged incapacitation and slamming her court-appointed guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, with a resounding, “Get off my neck!” The fiery exchange captivated viewers and reignited discussions about Williams’ ongoing guardianship battle, her health, and her unrelenting fight for autonomy.

A Voice That Won’t Be Silenced

Williams’ call-in came hot on the heels of a tumultuous week. Just days prior, on March 10, the NYPD had escorted her from her assisted living facility to Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan after a welfare check prompted by a note she reportedly dropped from her fifth-floor window reading, “Help! Wendy!!” At the hospital, Williams underwent a psychological evaluation, which she claims she passed “with flying colors.” She reiterated this triumph during her The View appearance, declaring, “It was my choice to get an independent evaluation on my incapacitation, which I don’t have. How dare they say I have incapacitation? I do not!”

Her words were a direct challenge to the narrative pushed by her guardian and a Manhattan judge, who declared her “legally incapacitated” in August 2024 following a 2023 diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and aphasia. Williams has consistently rejected these labels, and her call to The View was no exception. “I need them to get off my neck,” she insisted, her voice brimming with the trademark vigor fans remember from her decades in radio and TV. She even went a step further, demanding a change in oversight: “I need a new guardian.”
