Kamala Harris Compares Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler and Vladimir Putin, Accuses Him of Committing War Crimes Over Venezuela Attack and Maduro Abduction, Stresses That While Maduro Is a Brutal Dictator, Trump’s Actions Were Unlawful and Diplomatic Options Were Ignored
Kamala Harris Condemns Trump’s Venezuela Operation, Likens Him to Hitler and Putin, Calls Abduction of Maduro a War Crime
Former Vice President Kamala Harris issued a forceful condemnation of former President Donald Trump’s recent military operation in Venezuela, likening his actions to the authoritarian behaviors of Adolf Hitler and Vladimir Putin. Harris specifically criticized Trump for orchestrating the abduction of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, calling the operation both illegal under U.S. and international law and strategically unwise.

“Maduro is a brutal, illegitimate dictator, and his government has caused immense suffering,” Harris said in a statement. “But that fact does not change the reality that the recent actions taken by Donald Trump were unlawful and reckless. There are always diplomatic avenues to resolve conflicts, and those were ignored in favor of unilateral military action.”
Harris’s remarks come amid growing controversy over Trump’s aggressive approach toward Venezuela, which included the capture and detention of Maduro. While some of Trump’s supporters argued the move was justified to target a leader accused of corruption and involvement with drug cartels, legal experts and international observers have warned that such actions could constitute a violation of the War Powers Act and international norms governing the treatment of sovereign nations.
“Comparing this to historical examples of authoritarian aggression is not an exaggeration,” Harris said, drawing parallels to Hitler’s and Putin’s disregard for international law. “The United States must lead by example, uphold legal standards, and prioritize diplomacy—even when confronting leaders like Maduro.”
Harris also emphasized that unilateral military operations risk long-term geopolitical consequences. Experts have warned that the abduction of Maduro could destabilize the region further, provoke retaliatory actions from allies, and undermine the credibility of the United States on the global stage.
The Vice President’s statement is likely to intensify the political debate surrounding Trump’s foreign policy decisions, particularly as Congress and legal authorities continue to scrutinize the legality and implications of the Venezuela operation.
“Unlawful and unwise actions cannot be justified by the brutality of those being targeted,” Harris concluded. “Our country must always pursue justice and security through lawful, diplomatic, and measured approaches—not through reckless, unilateral force.”
