The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, has been left unhappy with the news that her uncle, Gary Goldsmith, is set to appear on the new series of Celebrity Big Brother. The news of the unexpected participation of Goldsmith in the ITV series has irked the Royal Family – and Kate, 42, in particular is not amused as she continues her recovery from abdominal surgery.

As the show returned to TV screens for the first time in six years on Monday, it has emerged Goldsmith’s participation in the British VIP version of Big Brother has caused consternation among his family. Other figures taking part include X-Factor judges Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh.

A number of close sources to the Middletons claim that his decision to participate in the reality TV show has provoked anger from his niece, Kate: “Princess Kate is angry because her uncle is joining Big Brother. She doesn’t need stress,” the source told The Sun. In addition, the same publication points out that the princess’s parents would not be happy with her participation in the program either. “Gary said that Kate’s mother, Carole, and her father, Michael, have read her letter to him. They are not happy.”

The situation has escalated to the point where not only the Princess of Wales’ inner circle are worried, but also the Royal Family as a whole, with some concerns he could let slip some of their family secrets. When asked if Kate will be watching, Goldsmith told presenter AJ Odudu: “If she is it will be behind a sofa, I guess.”
