Meghan Markle’s pre-royal friend could have influenced brand strategy
Reports indicate that Meghan Markle’s longtime friend, known to her well before meeting Prince Harry, could have played a significant role in inspiring the Duchess of Sussex to launch her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard.
The brand was quietly introduced to the public in March through its Instagram page and website, though an official hard launch date is still pending confirmation.
Markle has begun teasing the public with glimpses of products that will fall under the American Riviera Orchard label, including strawberry and raspberry jams and dog biscuits.
Recent rumors also suggest her interest in debuting a signature rosé wine.
Influencers and friends received promotional packages from Meghan, featuring the jams and dog biscuits, marking the initial steps in building anticipation for the brand’s full release.
Markle’s close association with Mr. Anderson, recognized as one of Toronto Life’s 50 Most Influential in 2014, spans many years and has purportedly connected her with Hollywood luminaries like George and Amal Clooney, as well as stylist Jessica Mulroney.
While initial reports credited Mr. Anderson with introducing Meghan to Prince Harry, Meghan clarified during their 2017 engagement interview that it was a mutual friend who played matchmaker for them.
It’s believed that Mr. Anderson, as the Soho House Director, facilitated discreet meetings between Harry and Meghan at various Soho House properties worldwide, including locations in London, Somerset, and Toronto, in the early stages of their relationship.
