Nick Cannon Talks Thanksgiving Plans as a Father of 12: ‘I’m a Busy Man’

As Thanksgiving approaches, Nick Cannon is preparing for what will undoubtedly be a busy holiday season, managing the logistics of celebrating with his growing family of 12 children. The multi-talented TV host, actor, and entrepreneur opened up about how he plans to balance his career, family obligations, and Thanksgiving traditions, while embracing the joy of having such a large and diverse family.

With children from multiple relationships, including with ex-wives Mariah Carey and Brittany Bell, as well as model and actress Abby De La Rosa and others, Cannon’s family is an intricate web of siblings and shared celebrations. Yet, despite the complexities, the 43-year-old has found ways to make the holidays work—and his commitment to family remains unwavering.

“I’m a Busy Man,” but Family Comes First

In a recent interview, Cannon acknowledged that coordinating Thanksgiving with 12 children isn’t easy, but it’s something he relishes. “I’m a busy man,” he said with a chuckle, referencing his jam-packed schedule that includes hosting The Masked Singer, overseeing his media company, and managing several other business ventures. “But when it comes to family, I make sure I prioritize spending time with them. Thanksgiving is about being together, showing gratitude, and making lasting memories.”

Cannon’s Thanksgiving plans typically involve several gatherings to ensure all of his children are included. Though each of his kids spends time with their mother and their extended families, Cannon makes an effort to spend time with all of them during the holiday. “It’s a balancing act, but I love it,” he explained. “Every family has their own unique way of celebrating, but we try to keep the vibe joyful, supportive, and loving. The kids are the priority.”

A Multi-Household Celebration

Given the size of his family and the varying locations where his children reside, Cannon’s Thanksgiving celebrations have become an intricate affair. “It’s a lot of work, a lot of moving parts,” he admitted. “But it’s all worth it. It’s about showing up and being present.”

While Cannon has been candid about the challenges of juggling fatherhood, work, and relationships, he’s also emphasized that he wouldn’t change a thing. “The more, the merrier,” he said when reflecting on his large family. Cannon’s children range in age from a few months old to a few years old, and while the family dynamic is complex, Cannon has always maintained a deep commitment to ensuring his children feel loved and supported.

Gratitude and Tradition

For Nick Cannon, Thanksgiving is not just about the turkey and the football game—it’s an opportunity to reflect on gratitude, love, and the blessings in his life. “I’m incredibly thankful for my kids, for my family, and for the support I have from all of them,” he said. “It’s a time to focus on love, to reconnect, and to express appreciation for all the beautiful people around me.”

Despite his often hectic schedule, Cannon makes a concerted effort to instill values of gratitude and family unity in his children. He views Thanksgiving as a chance to reinforce these lessons, creating an atmosphere where his children understand the importance of kindness, appreciation, and togetherness. “Family is everything to me,” he added. “It’s what keeps me grounded. When we all come together, it’s magical.”

Keeping the Spirit of the Season Alive

While the logistics of Thanksgiving with 12 kids may sound overwhelming to some, Cannon takes it in stride. His ability to embrace such a chaotic but rewarding lifestyle reflects his positive outlook and deep sense of responsibility as a father. The fact that he’s so involved with all aspects of his children’s lives—whether it’s attending school events, spending time together on holidays, or simply being there for a phone call—shows his dedication as a parent.

Cannon also emphasizes the importance of showing his children the spirit of gratitude and love during the holiday season. “It’s not just about having a big meal, but about creating meaningful moments,” he said. “I want my kids to remember these holidays as times when we all came together, regardless of where we were, to celebrate what matters most.”

A Legacy of Love and Laughter

Looking ahead to Thanksgiving, Nick Cannon remains focused on making sure that each child knows they are loved and valued. The holidays will undoubtedly be filled with laughter, family traditions, and a whole lot of moving around, but Cannon is determined to make it work.

“Being a father of 12 means there’s never a dull moment,” he concluded. “But at the end of the day, it’s about love. That’s the most important thing I can give them—my time, my attention, and my heart.”

As Nick Cannon gears up for another busy Thanksgiving, his focus remains on the people who matter most—his family. Amid the hustle and bustle, his dedication to showing gratitude for his loved ones, including his 12 children, is a reminder of what truly matters during the holiday season.
