Patrick Mahomes’ Curious Request to The NFL to Avoid More Taunting Before 2024 NFL Combine
Patrick Mahomes made a plea on social media.
As anticipation builds for the beginning of the 2024 NFL Combine, Patrick Mahomes, the star quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs, has levied a lighthearted plea. In a recent social media post, Mahomes playfully implored the NFL Network to retire his 40-yard dash overlay from their combine coverage.
Back in 2017, during his days as a prospect hailing from Texas Tech, Mahomes blazed through the 40-yard dash in a respectable 4.80 seconds. Since then, snippets of his sprint have become a fixture in combine broadcasts, often superimposed whenever quarterbacks take center stage.
“As the combine starts this week! All i ask is that @nflnetwork doesn’t use my 40 overlay anymore,” Mahomes wrote on Twitter.
While Mahomes’ dash time doesn’t hold the record for the slowest among quarterbacks in combine history, its ubiquity speaks volumes about his meteoric rise to become one of the premier signal-callers in the NFL.
Fresh off his third Super Bowl triumph, Mahomes sets his sights on an unprecedented three-peat with the Chiefs in the upcoming season.
As the football world gears up for the latest crop of quarterback talent showcased at the combine, all eyes will be on notable prospects such as Caleb Williams from USC, Drake Maye from UNC, and Jayden Daniels from LSU.
These young guns aim to impress scouts and cement their positions in the NFL landscape, possibly following in the footsteps of the illustrious Mahomes.
