The Princess of Wales shared in a video Friday the reason she’s been away from the public eye is because of her health. She underwent a successful abdominal surgery in January, which later revealed cancer had been present and she’s since started chemotherapy.
“She has shown tremendous bravery with her statement today,” he wrote. “In recent weeks she has been subjected to intense scrutiny and has been unfairly treated by certain sections of the media around the world and on social media. When it comes to matters of health, like everyone else, she must be afforded the privacy to focus on her treatment and be with her loving family.” In the US, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said: “We wish the Duchess of Cambridge a full recovery. And we are incredibly sad to hear the news.”
Ivanka Trump also posted a kind message to Kate, saying, “I am deeply saddened to hear about Princess Kate’s diagnosis. Amidst the trials she faces, her strength and beauty continue to shine bright.” Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala said on X: “I wish Catherine, Princess of Wales, and all those who are fighting with cancer, much strength and a speedy recovery.” Michelle O’Neill, the first minister of Northern Ireland said, “I am very sorry to hear the news of the Princess of Wales’ cancer diagnosis. I send her my best wishes and the strength for her treatment, and a full and speedy recovery. A special word of thought to her young family at this challenging time.”
