Congress Claims They Forced an End to US-Iran War at the Last Minute, Insisting Trump Was Poised to Launch Nuclear Strikes on Iran and That He Did Not Voluntarily Agree to a Ceasefire but Was Left With No Viable Option Other Than to Accept
Congress Reveals Last-Minute Intervention Forced End to Iran War; Lawmakers Say Trump Was ‘Hours Away’ from Nuclear Strike
WASHINGTON, D.C. – In a series of explosive closed-door testimonies turned public on Wednesday, senior members of Congress have claimed that it was a last-minute legislative intervention—not a presidential decision—that ended the escalating war with Iran, alleging that former President Trump was prepared to authorize nuclear strikes before being left with “no option” but to accept a ceasefire.

The dramatic account, provided by bipartisan congressional leadership from the time, directly contradicts the official narrative that Trump voluntarily agreed to halt hostilities. Instead, lawmakers describe a frantic 48-hour period where they believe the United States was on the brink of using tactical nuclear weapons against Iranian nuclear facilities.
“He wanted to nuke Iran,” one senior congressional aide, granted anonymity to discuss sensitive negotiations, told reporters. “The ceasefire was never part of his plan. We had to force his hand at the absolute last minute because we believed he was out of options—and so were we.”
‘We Had to Break the Glass’
According to the congressional account, tensions reached their zenith after a series of escalations in the Persian Gulf. While the White House at the time publicly pushed for a conventional military response, intelligence briefings reportedly indicated that President Trump had grown frustrated with limited strikes and was considering a much more drastic measure.
“It wasn’t a bluff,” recalled a former House Intelligence Committee member. “We saw the targeting packages. He was fixated on a decapitation strike against Iran’s nuclear program, and the military advisors were struggling to talk him down.”
Fearing an uncontrollable regional war that could kill hundreds of thousands, congressional leaders executed a rarely used legislative maneuver. They threatened to immediately invoke the War Powers Act, coupled with a promise to defund any further military action beyond defensive operations.
“We went to the Speaker and the Majority Leader and said, ‘If you don’t force a ceasefire in the next six hours, we are pulling the rug out,'” the aide added. “We effectively told the White House: accept the deal Iran is offering now, or face a constitutional crisis and a military cut-off.”
