Conservatives Slam Homelander Antony Starr for Taking “Cheap Political Shots” at MAGA Supporters and Donald Trump in New The Boys Interview
Antony Starr is facing backlash from some conservative viewers after comments made during a recent media appearance were interpreted as a jab at supporters of President Donald Trump and the Republican Party.
The actor, best known for his chilling role as Homelander in The Boys, sparked heated debate online after clips from the interview began circulating across social media platforms. Critics accused Starr of taking “cheap shots” at conservative Americans while promoting the hit Amazon series.
While discussing the political satire woven throughout The Boys, Starr reportedly made remarks that many viewers interpreted as criticism aimed at Trump supporters and right-wing political culture. Though some fans praised the actor for speaking openly, others argued celebrities should avoid insulting large portions of their audience.
Conservative commentators and social media users quickly reacted, with some accusing Hollywood stars of increasingly alienating Republican viewers. Several critics claimed the entertainment industry has become overly political, arguing actors and producers often target conservatives during interviews and press tours.
At the same time, supporters of Starr defended the actor, noting that The Boys has always leaned heavily into political and cultural satire. Fans pointed out that the show frequently mocks power, celebrity worship, media influence, and extremism across the political spectrum.
The controversy quickly turned into a trending topic online, with hashtags related to both Antony Starr and The Boys gaining traction as users debated whether actors should publicly share political opinions.
Neither Starr nor representatives for the show have directly responded to the backlash. However, the viral moment once again highlights the growing tension between politics, celebrity culture, and entertainment in today’s media landscape.
