According to the reports, the pilot—believed to be part of the crew of a downed F-15E—had been evading capture in rugged terrain before being approached by local civilians. The individuals reportedly offered assistance, promising to help the pilot safely escape the region and eventually return to the United States. However, Iranian sources claim the situation took a dramatic turn when the civilians instead handed the pilot over to the (IRGC).
The claims, which have not been independently verified by U.S. officials, have added another layer of tension and uncertainty to an already volatile situation in the region. U.S. military authorities have yet to confirm the pilot’s status or the details surrounding the alleged capture, though search-and-rescue operations had been ongoing in the area following reports of the aircraft being attacked.
