The two pop superstars found themselves competing in the same Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded) category, putting their projects head-to-head during the highly anticipated awards ceremony.
Ultimately, the award went to The Muppet Show, giving Carpenter a major career milestone while Swift’s record-breaking Eras Tour special missed out on the prize.
