Taylor Swift Reacts to Dolly Parton’s Passing With Heartfelt Tribute as Music World Says Goodbye to a Legend
Taylor Swift is among the many artists expected to reflect on the loss of Dolly Parton, following confirmation that the country music icon has died at the age of 80.
Parton’s death was confirmed Tuesday by her representatives and family, bringing an end to a career that stretched across more than six decades. She leaves behind an extraordinary musical legacy that includes classics such as “Jolene,” “9 to 5” and “I Will Always Love You.” ()
Swift has long had reason to admire Parton, whose influence extended far beyond country music. Parton was celebrated not only for her songwriting and distinctive voice, but also for her generosity and work supporting children through her Imagination Library.
The relationship between the two generations of artists has also included philanthropy. In July 2026, Parton publicly thanked Swift and Travis Kelce after the couple donated $2 million to the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. Parton said she was “blown away and overjoyed” by their generosity. ()
Swift has also previously supported causes connected to Parton. In 2016, she donated $100,000 to the Dolly Parton Fire Fund following devastating wildfires in Tennesse)
As tributes continue to emerge following Parton’s death, her influence on younger generations of musicians is once again coming into focus. Her career crossed the boundaries of country, pop, film and philanthropy, making her one of the most recognizable entertainers in American culture.)
For Swift, Parton represented more than a legendary songwriter. She was an example of an artist who remained connected to her roots while building an enduring global career — and whose generosity became just as important to her legacy as her music.
Swift has not yet been publicly confirmed as having issued a statement about Parton’s death, so any specific tribute attributed to her should be treated as unverified until it appears through Swift’s official channels or a reputable news outlet.
